This topic will look at the Nurse Practice Act and how it impacts the practice of a nurse, nursing licensure and certification, and the care of clients. This will include what scope of practice covers as an advanced practice RN, a BSN, an ADN, an LPN, and unlicensed assistive personnel (UAP). The ANA Code of Ethics and the ANA Social Policy Statement will be addressed.
Objectives:
- Explore the State Nurse Practice Act and how it regulates professional nursing practice.
- Discuss the primary roles and scope of practice of the registered nurse (RN), licensed practical nurse (LPN), and unlicensed assistive personnel (UAP).
- Review the scope and standards of professional nursing practice and the local, state, national, and global organizations that regulate the profession of nursing.
